Zephyr's double-decker plane seating design allows even economy passengers the opportunity to lie flat during their journey.
The Zephyr Seat is designed by Jeffrey O'Neill and offers passengers more privacy and space without airlines compromising on numbers. So that passengers in economy class can lie flat and be more comfortable during their journey.
O'Neill shared with CNN Travel:
We believe that new types of travelers will require privacy or will want to pay extra for that as much as they would pay for the ability to sleep.
The upper seats will come with a telescopic ladder so guests can climb in.
O'Neill also told CNN Travel about how he came up with the idea after a sleepless flight between New York and Singapore several years ago.
I'm on probably the best-rated airline in the world, and I'm getting wonderful service and the food is edible, but I can't sleep. This is really uncomfortable. Why is it so difficult to find an affordable way to lie flat on a flight that's 19 hours?
The seat design is currently undergoing safety checks, but this is a process that could take as long as three years.
